Magnesit Project

Magnesit Inc. is the biggest magnesia producer in Turkey. For water requirements of the customer for cleaning purposes, SYS has installed a small scale SCADA system over a pair of UHF frequencies.

The SCADA system consists of a control and four remote stations located 5 km away from the SCADA centers.

SYS has used its own RTU1101A products and its own SCADA package to implement the project. Motorola radios have been used for wireless links between the SCADA centers and the remote sites.

First phase of the system including one control center and two deepwell pump stations was commissioned in 1991. In 1992, second phase of the system covering the additional two deepwell pump stations was completed.

The complete system has been designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned solely by SYS. The remote terminal units manufactured by SYS were used and the SCADA software was also developed by SYS. The data transmission is made via a pair of VHF frequencies using Motorola telemetry radios.

The system provides the remote and automatic control of the pumps and standby generators powering the deepwell pumps under emergency conditions. Standard SCADA functions such as the status monitoring, alarming and reporting are also provided.
