KASKI SCADA Project

KASKI Water Production and Distribution SCADA Project was implemented for the biggest city in eastern part of Turkey in 1994, for Kayseri Water and Sewarage Utility.

The Project has been completed in 4 phases. SYS Inc. was the prime contractor as a turn-key solution provider in all phases. SYS has utilized its own SCADA package in the first phase of the project and  Metso Automation's S/3 SCADA package for Windows NT was used in the following phases. SYS and Motorola RTUs have been used in the outstations.

The SCADA system consists of 80 water distribution stations, i.e., booster pump stations, water reservoirs, deepwells and water quality stations. The system enables the control and monitoring of 0.4kV low voltage pumps, electrically actuated valves, water reservoirs and water quality measurement stations.

The SCADA center comprises dual redundant servers, two operator workstations, one engineering workstation, one projection system workstation and various printers for alarm/event and screen-printing purposes.

The communications is via a UHF radio system based on Motorola products, which provides a citywide coverage of 400km2. The outstations communicate with the SCADA Center using single frequency wide area UHF network and use MDLC protocol. A set of redundant communication gateways at the SCADA center provides TCP/IP connectivity to the SCADA LAN. The system handles has more than 5000 I/O points.

A BARCO rear projection system is also installed at the control room located in KASKI Headquarters in Phase 4. Fourth phase of the project was financed by German KWF organization.
