Cekisan SCADA and Image Transfer Project

Cekisan Project

Cekisan, the handling company of Mobil, BP and Shell Oil, has awarded a contract to SYS Inc. in 1997 for controlling remote pump stations and still image transfer over wireless communication SCADA channels.

The project has been implemented to allow control and monitoring of a pump station that pumps the product from off shore (ships docking to a platform that is 300m off the shore). The system has an additional future of sending still images collected from 3 different cameras (one night vision) with remote zoom/tilt/pan capability for security reasons and to monitor the docking ships.

The communication is via an UHF radio frequency and the images are also transmitted using the same frequency without altering SCADA communications. The Motorola MOSCAD RTUs and Motorola RIX wireless image transmission system have been used in the SCADA project. The SCADA Center located 4 km away from the pump station and is able to control and monitor the pump station and is also able to view the images captured either or all of the three cameras.
