RM3473A High Speed Radio Modem

Overview

RM3473A is a high performance radio data modem designed for specific and general purpose wireless data communication requirements.

The unit incorporates two RS232 ports, one RS232/RS485 port, a high spec UHF transceiver, a high speed GMSK modem, a GPS interface, an RTC and Lithium battery, a 0-20mA current loop interface, a temperature sensor, two general purpose digital inputs, EEPROM and Flash memory all managed by a powerful microprocessor.

The unit is fully configurable to support various data transfer needs such as general purpose RF data link, meter reading, etc.

Over-air data speed is 9600 bps with 12.5kHz RF channel spacing. Built-in GMSK modem provides forward error correction (FEC), 32 bit CRC generation/checking, scrambling and interleaving/de-interleaving of user data to achieve high reliability.

When the RF interface is omitted, the unit can be interfaced with a GSM data module to provide data transmission over existing GSM infrastructures.

A 12 channel GPS interface is also provided to support automatic vehicle location applications. GPS interface also supports differential operation.

A 0-20mA current interface is provided for automatic reading of three phase industrial power meters having current loop interfaces.
